Keyless Ignition Deaths Jump

Comments Off

Back in the summer we warned about keyless ignitions being linked to carbon monoxide defects leading to sickness and death.  Ten of the big automakers were the defendants in lawsuits at that time due to the defects and now a new report out December 21, 2015 says that the numbers of injuries and deaths from keyless ignitions is increasing rather than going down.

Now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is being urged to take immediate actions to keep more people from dying from this defect.  Automakers were never forced to make the fix that would cause a loud alarm to sound for auto owners who accidentally leave their vehicle running after getting out of the vehicle with their control for the keyless ignition (fob).  In addition to the NHTSA delaying action for the fix for new vehicles, there are no plans to do anything with the millions of vehicles already owned by Americans and at risk.   The class-action lawsuits already in progress out there have clearly asked that auto manufacturers fix the defect on every vehicle impacted by the carbon monoxide danger risks, not just new unowned vehicles.  That is like saying that the people already owned the subject vehicles are just collateral damage along the way to assuring that new owners do not experience the same risks.  It is clear a recall is needed but the powers that be are evidently not shocked enough yet with the injuries and deaths that have already occurred.

If you or someone you love has been sickened or worse by carbon monoxide poisoning due to the keyless ignition defect, please contact the professionals at Inserra & Kelley Law Offices to see if you are entitled to compensation.
