Many smokers trying to overcome the addiction have jumped on the e-cigarette bandwagon to get their nicotine fix without the accompaniment of tobacco smoke.  However, there have been few studies to date to confirm whether or not e-cigarettes are going to be found safe in the long run.  While it’s true the tobacco smoke toxicity is not a danger with them, there is the fact that nicotine is an addictive substance and many smokers do not know how to properly use the e-cigarettes to eventually get to the use of neither cigarettes nor e-cigarettes.  For many, the e-version becomes the permanent alternative, which was not the original intention.

Other smokers have found that the e-cigarette works only temporarily and then actually causes them to be even more tempted to resume regular cigarette smoking.  The consumer simply has to weigh the pros and cons, with their health professional, to see whether the potential, still unknown risks outweigh the benefits of getting rid of tobacco smoke, at least temporarily.  Many consumers view the e-cigarettes as a medical product, since doctors often suggest that patients try nicotine gum and patches.  However, none are actual medical products.  Researchers will have to continue looking into the long-term use of e-cigarettes making it all the more important for smokers to work with medical providers to find the safest, healthiest solutions for them.

Inserra & Kelley Law Offices desires the utmost safety for all of you out there and so seeks to keep abreast of the latest information regarding possible product dangers.  Stay tuned.
